Consider this course if you want to get more involved in the community and begin to make a difference right away.
A nine-month, experiential course on York County history and community issues. Participants fine-tune their leadership skills, enhance their knowledge, and receive guidance in choosing and applying for a board, elected, or appointed position. Provides access to additional opportunities for partnerships and new business relationships. Runs September through May.
Consider this course if you are new to the area or to your leadership role and looking to expand your involvement in the community.
A community education course for CEOs, vice presidents, and managers who are new to the area or new to their leadership role and looking to expand their connection to the community. The program connects participants with York County’s key leaders, services, and culture. We offer discounted rates for spouses/partners. Runs February through May (six sessions).
Consider this course if you work with or for children and want to raise your awareness of marginalized groups and create culturally proficient environments, so that all children feel like they belong and as a result can be more successful.
LDS is for professionals who work with and for children, helping them create inclusive, culturally proficient spaces where every child feels they belong. This course equips participants with tools to effectively engage diverse student and parent populations. Through problem-solving activities, critical reflection, and group discussions, participants build skills in acceptance, understanding, and leadership. This program runs September through May.
Consider this program when you are at a critical point in your career and recognize the value of working with an established leader.
This program accelerates successful leaders to step up to significant community impact through servant leadership and connections. Personal growth is facilitated through (1) a one-on-one match between the Mentorship York participant and a seasoned community leader and (2) monthly presentations by a mentor with all Mentorship York program participants. Mentorship York serves as community succession planning for York, as it fills a community leadership generational gap and aids in the transfer of knowledge between generations. Mentorship York runs on a calendar year.
High school sophomores and juniors come together across York County high schools and learn to become lifelong, responsible, active participants in their hometown community. Participants develop leadership skills and lasting relationships with each other and community leaders. The program runs October through May.
Nonprofit board members and executive directors learn governance skills and best practices to help them serve their organizations and our community more effectively. Our board development programs and services include our All On Board training seminars and our Nonprofit Leadership Academy. We also offer workshops, customized trainings for nonprofit boards, a lending library, and free technical assistance.
