Leadership for Diverse Schools Program
Retired After 19 Years of Impact
After 19 years of transformative work, the Leadership for Diverse Schools (LDS) program concluded its final chapter in 2025.
Created in partnership with the York JCC, LDS prepared over 500 educators and community leaders to serve with empathy, awareness, and cultural proficiency. Through deep exploration of topics like race, religion, socio-economic bias, and trauma, participants learned to lead with compassion and build inclusive, culturally responsive communities.
We extend heartfelt thanks to the coordinators and facilitators whose leadership made this program possible—and to every graduate who continues to carry its mission forward.
JCC Facilitators:
Cathy Bollinger, 2007 to 2013
Melissa Plotkin, 2014 to 2022
Joslin Kearse, 2023

David Mason, 2006 to 2011

Thank you for 19 powerful years.
“I think most people would self-report to be unbiased and non-judgmental – this program really challenges that mindset. We had opportunities to self-reflect, question, and discuss some serious topics in a safe and supportive environment. I am definitely walking away with more self-awareness.”
